You Inspire Me

Hi Everyone!
I hope everyone is enjoying their Thursday, over here in Melbourne we have enjoyed a beautiful hot spring day today, which I was able to fit in a layout that I have created for Once Upon A Sketches November competition! They have a great sketch for this month, which I felt a MUST to join! If you are also interested in joining the challenge this month click HERE!

With this sketch, the jouranalling theme is Inspiration/inspired by etc. I decided to use my dad as my inspiration because well....he is one of my inspirations! Dad is and will always be there for me whenever I need him, I know his only a phone call away. Dad has worked extremely hard to get where he is today and to provide for my family, and I can't express how inspired I am by my dad for his work ethic, his love and his compassion.
The final layout:
I have switched the title and journalling around (hence: title is on right side instead of left)

The Sketch:

Am still in love with Faber Castells Whipped Spackle and Kaisercrafts crosses stencil!

I applied gesso around the edges of the photo to create a softer look as I didn't like the sharpness of the photos.
Hidden journaling

For the hidden jouranlling, I used a Project Life card and cut it down to size.

Without You I'm Nothing

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! So today I'm very very very excited to share with you guys that I have been privileged enough to be a guest designer over at Scraps N Pieces. This month they have an awesome November challenge! This months challenge is to create something that you can't live without.

I have created my layout based around my amazing partner, Ben. Ben and I have been together for 3.5 years, his one of the most supportive, loving people in my life, and honestly without him. I would be nothing, I would quite literally be lost. So away from the cliche lovey dovey stuff, you guys can enter this months challenge by clicking HERE! Below, you can see my layout that I have created for hopefully, a little inspiration.

Tiaras & Wands

Good Afternoon! Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful Tuesday!

Firstly, I apologize that I have not posted anything for a couple weeks, unfortunately due to personal reasons this has been a little impossible. However, on a positive note, I have finally completed a new scrapbook layout! Today I'm sharing a page I've created that I was inspired to create from the Scrap Around The World's October mood board! It is an AMAZING mood board created by the very very talented and fellow Australian scrapbooker Rachael Funnell! If you are also interested in entering this awesome competition, you can do so by clicking HERE!

The final product:
Scrap Around The Worlds Mood Board:
I was inspired by the October mood board by all of the above pictures. The butterflys, the colors, and the geometric shapes on the girls shorts.

Flowers include Kaisercraft blooms, Kaisercraft leaves and other flowers from my stash.

I used Faber Castell's whipped spackle and Kaisercraft stencils to create geometric shapes.

I always get nervous working with watercolor as I have an image in my head and it usually always never works out the way I thought it would have. This time I decided to come out of my comfort zone and use watercolor paint as I really wanted to get the colors from the October mood board to come across in my page.

Smile

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
well, not for me....that means start of the work week for me! But if you have a weekend without work, enjoy! So today I'm sharing a layout that I made a few days ago. I was extremely excited to join Off The Rails Scrapbooking  September Mood palette challenge, gold at the moment is my absolute favorite color to work with! Mixed with blues and purples makes it magical, so this challenge was a MUST for me!

The end result:

The mood palette at Off The Rails Scrapbooking:
The Kaisercraft wooden frames I've used, i was original going to keep them raw, however last minute decided to coat them in a few sprays of Heidi Swapp's Gold Color shine, and I'm glad I did as the end result made it more classier, in my opinion. You can't really notice it in the photos, but it definitely stands out when you view the frames in person.

To achieve this result with the background, I wasn't happy with the amount of green tones so I used a few blue distress inks and one purple distress ink, applied the ink in sections with the foam applicator tool and in a circular motion, started around the border and mixing the colors together gradually to achieve the end result. Once happy with the inking, i sprayed my whole page in Heidi Swapp's gold color shine spray, and sprayed the center of the page with more coats than the rest of the page to create a richer, deeper look and then tilted the page to create runs.

Can you tell I  had an obsession with the gold color shine on this layout?! I love love love how the color shine went with the whipped Spackle. Once i applied the whipped Spackle through Kaisercrafts Diamonds stencil, I dried it with my heat gun. I then sprayed the gold color shine onto some baking paper and with a wet paintbrush, i painted the color shine over the diamonds, i love how it creates a nice slight shine over the diamond, but most of all i love how it just sits around the diamond and create a 'glow' effect.

I FINALLY got my hands on Faber Castell's Whipped Spackle, and my goodness is it amazing! Absolutely loved working with it, the thickness of the paste is incredible, yet it is so light and therefore to easy to work with!

Thanks for stopping by! If you have any comments, please feel free to leave them below!

Love you, Always

Good Morning!!! Finally a decent day here in Melbourne, first couple days of spring were dreadful as it was cold and it just kept raining! however, this enabled me to fit some time in to create this page!! Today I've created a layout of me and my beautiful younger sister. I'm entering this page into Scraps N Pieces competition this month. It's all about creating a feminine layout. Now, if anyone goes through my album, you will quickly realize I have a thing for pink in my pages, because this was a feminine layout competition, I wanted to step away from that security of mine of creating a stereotypical pink page. I wanted to keep it simple yet effective to the eye!

Rachael x

For the background, I have used watercolor to create stokes of color (Blue, Peach and Yellow). I have also used a triangle stamp by Kaisercraft for stamping and have added some Heidi Swapp embellishments.

I have added some ink splatters with Heidi Swapp color shine (seafoam, mustard, pink) and Dylusions black Ink.
Wooden Veneers are one of my absolute favorite embellishments at the moment, since this page was all about females, I thought these people embellishments by Studio Calico would be perfect to represent a big female (me being a big sister) and a little female to represent my little sister. (shes 14 now, but she will always be my LITTLE sister!)
I have used a collage of papers from Best of American Crafts Paper Pad-Meilleur D

Please feel free to leave comments! I hope you come back to my blog soon and also have a look around at the other layouts I've created!
